Ash grew up between Jersey (UK) & England, but his sound and character are more evidently sculpted by his travels, having lived in NZ, AUS and SA. Ash blends his robust, soulful voice and presence with a raw percussive guitar style, carrying listeners across astral visions and ocean adventures.
After recent European tours with Jeremy Loops and The Beautiful Girls, and appearances at ‘Glastonbury Festival’, ‘Sziget Festival’, ‘Secret Garden Party’ and ‘Blues Fest Byron Bay’, he’s currently performing solo in UK & Europe in the build up to the release of the debut EP ‘How Well Do You Know This Place’. The EP was recorded in Byron Bay (Australia), with some of the team behind one of Ash’s favourite records, ‘Honey Bones’ by Dope Lemon. After a few months living and recording in Byron’s rustic paradise the sonic vision was finally reached.
The record was produced by Rohin Brown (Dope Lemon, Angus & Julia Stone) and features performances from Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley, St Vincent) on drums/percussion and Rob Calder (Passenger, Angus & Julia Stone) on bass, and is due for release April 2019. The first single ‘Guided By Waves’ is out now, stay tuned for the second single ‘Phosphorus’, coming out in March.
